What to send a grosgrain tape manufacturer
Grosgrain is specified by rib, width and hand as much as by colour, and the rib is the thing a buyer notices first. These six points let us quote and weave a first sample.
WIDTH
Finished width in millimetres, measured flat.
RIB SCALE
How fine or pronounced the crosswise rib should be. This is the visual signature of grosgrain and the easiest thing to get wrong from a written brief alone.
FIBRE
Polyester for colour hold and cost, cotton for a softer and more matte hand.
COLOURWAY
Pantone TCX reference or a physical swatch. Send a swatch wherever the tape will be visible on the outside of the garment.
EDGE
Whether the edge will be visible or enclosed in a seam, which decides the finish we recommend.
QUANTITY AND MARKET
Order quantity and destination market, which sets the test reports that ship with the goods.
Where grosgrain earns its place
Grosgrain is woven with a heavier weft than warp, which is what raises the characteristic ribs across the tape and gives it noticeably more body than a plain-woven tape of the same width. That firmness is the reason it gets specified where the tape has to hold a shape rather than drape — waistband facing, strapping, and trim that stays visible on the finished garment.
Grosgrain and herringbone run on the same twill-tape machinery and share a combined capacity of 80,000 yards a day, but they stay separate SKUs and can be ordered either way round on a single purchase order. Everything ships from our own floor in Uttarkhan, Uttara — an 18,000 sq ft factory running 24 hours shift-wise with 30 office staff and 135 production workers.
Every lot is checked in our in-house lab against three ISO methods before dispatch — pH (ISO 3071), colour fastness to rubbing (ISO 105 X12) and colour fastness to water (ISO 105 E01). Timing does not change with order size: a physical sample 4 working days from a confirmed spec, and bulk 10 days after you approve that sample. We have exported to more than ten European markets since 2014, so the documentation your compliance team expects is routine rather than a special request.

Yes — they share a combined daily capacity figure but are separate SKUs. Order either or both on the same PO.
