Cord is usually specified accurately and finished vaguely, and it is the finishing that causes problems on the sewing line. These six points cover both halves.
DIAMETER
Cord diameter in millimetres, and the eyelet or channel it has to pass through.
CONSTRUCTION
Braided round cord is our standard. Tell us if you need a filled core for extra body or a hollow braid for softness.
CUT LENGTH
Finished length per piece, or bulk on rolls if your factory cuts in house. Cut-to-length saves a step on your line.
END FINISH
Plain, knotted, or tipped with a plastic aglet. We run a dedicated plastic tipping machine, so tipped cords arrive finished rather than as bulk cord you have to process.
COLOURWAY
Pantone TCX reference or a physical swatch, plus the aglet colour if it differs from the cord.
QUANTITY AND MARKET
Order quantity and destination market, which sets the compliance documents that travel with the shipment.
Cord, tipping, and the step that usually gets missed
Most drawcord problems are not about the cord at all. They are about what happens at the two ends: an untipped cord frays and disappears back into the channel, and a badly fitted aglet pulls off in the first wash. We run plastic tipping as its own machine on the same floor as the braiding, so cut length and tipping are part of the same order rather than a separate finishing job.
Drawcord and drawstring share a combined 60,000 yards a day across three categories, and remain separate SKUs you can mix on one purchase order. Everything ships from our own floor in Uttarkhan, Uttara — an 18,000 sq ft factory running 24 hours shift-wise with 30 office staff and 135 production workers.
Every lot is checked in our in-house lab against three ISO methods before dispatch — pH (ISO 3071), colour fastness to rubbing (ISO 105 X12) and colour fastness to water (ISO 105 E01). Drawcord sits inside our STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX certificate 2022OK1327, issued by AITEX under Product Class I — the strictest class, the one written for baby articles — valid to 31 May 2027, within the certified materials and colourways. Timing does not change with order size: a physical sample 4 working days from a confirmed spec, and bulk 10 days after you approve that sample.
Common questions
Is drawcord sold separately from drawstring?
Yes — they share a combined daily capacity figure but are separate SKUs. Order either or both on the same PO.
Can you add an aglet or tip to the ends?
Yes, send your target end finish and we will confirm feasibility before sampling.
What is the minimum order quantity?
We do not publish a fixed MOQ — we quote against your actual spec and quantity.
