What a button manufacturer needs before sampling
Buttons are specified in their own vocabulary, and a brief that skips it usually comes back as the wrong part. These six points avoid that.
SIZE IN LIGNE
Button diameter in ligne, or in millimetres if that is what you work in. Send the size the garment is graded around, not an approximate one.
MATERIAL
Plastic or metal. Metal reads heavier and more premium on outerwear and denim; plastic is lighter, cheaper and easier to colour-match to fabric.
HOLES OR SHANK
Two-hole, four-hole or shank, and whether the button is sewn by machine on your line. This affects the button as much as the sewing.
FINISH
Matte, gloss, pearl, brushed or antique metal. Send a physical reference wherever the finish is the point.
LOGO
Embossed logo is available on request. Send vector artwork and we will confirm what survives at the button size you have chosen — detail that works at 30 ligne can disappear at 16.

Ligne, shank and the things briefs leave out
Ligne is the unit the button trade actually runs on — 40 ligne is roughly 25 mm — and a brief that gives only a rough diameter leaves the most important dimension open to interpretation. The second thing that gets left out is how the button will be attached: a shank button and a four-hole button of identical diameter behave differently on an automatic sewing machine, and finding that out at bulk stage is expensive.
Buttons are made to spec, so we do not publish a daily capacity for them the way we do for elastics and tapes — the run depends on size, material and finish. Everything ships from our own floor in Uttarkhan, Uttara — an 18,000 sq ft factory running 24 hours shift-wise with 30 office staff and 135 production workers, in operation since 2014.
Because buttons sit on the same purchase order as the sewing thread that attaches them and the labels that go in the same garment, the whole trim package can be sampled together and approved once. Timing does not change with order size: a physical sample 4 working days from a confirmed spec, and bulk 10 days after you approve that sample. There is no fixed MOQ published — we quote against your actual spec and quantity.
