Printing lifts most of the artwork limits that apply to weaving, so the brief shifts from what the loom can hold to how the label has to behave in wash and against skin. These six points cover it.
ARTWORK
Vector file with fonts outlined. Gradients, small type and photographic detail are all printable, so send the design you actually want rather than a simplified version.
BASE MATERIAL
Satin for a soft sheen, taffeta for a crisper and firmer label. Tell us if it sits against skin, which usually points to satin.
FINISHED SIZE AND FOLD
Width and height in millimetres, and whether the label is flat, centre-fold or end-fold.
COLOURWAY
Pantone references for the print and the base. Unlike weaving, adding colours does not add separately dyed yarns.
WASH REQUIREMENT
The cycles and temperature the print has to survive, and whether the garment is laundered industrially.
QUANTITY AND MARKET
Order quantity and destination market, which sets the compliance documents shipped with the order.
Printed or woven: how to choose
The honest answer is that it depends on the artwork and how long the mark has to last. Weaving builds the design from dyed yarn, so it survives longer but cannot hold fine gradients or many colours cheaply. Printing puts the design on the surface, which makes complex artwork straightforward and the unit cost lower, at the price of a mark that is surface-applied rather than structural. We make both, so the recommendation you get from us is not a function of what we happen to own.
In practice most ranges use both: woven for the main brand label at the neck, printed for care and content where the information is dense and the label is hidden. Both come off the same purchase order. Everything ships from our own floor in Uttarkhan, Uttara — an 18,000 sq ft factory running 24 hours shift-wise with 30 office staff and 135 production workers.
Every lot is checked in our in-house lab against three ISO methods before dispatch — pH (ISO 3071), colour fastness to rubbing (ISO 105 X12) and colour fastness to water (ISO 105 E01). Printed labels sit inside our STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX certificate 2022OK1327, issued by AITEX under Product Class I — the strictest class, written for baby articles — valid to 31 May 2027, within the certified materials and colourways. A sample takes 4 working days from a confirmed spec, bulk 10 days after approval.

How is printed different from woven label?
Printed labels suit detailed, multi-colour or care-instruction content at lower cost; woven suits durable brand marks that need to withstand repeated washing.
